Tips

  • You can immediately upgrade a building or add a garden before first rent comes
  • Mouse over resources to pick them up
  • Don't forget to demolish decorations and buildings for a 50% return of resources (even when already present at the start of the level)
  • On desert levels, non-housing buildings do not need to be near a well
  • Druids and pirates by a bonfire only clear the area for a short period of time.  When the fog returns or the area goes dark, the workers will stop producing and housing will stop making rents
  • However, dovecotes will add to happiness when behind fog and dark
  • As you are cheering up a leprechaun, you can demolish decorations or dovecotes as needed

Cabins

  • Cabins require 1 workers, costs 25 food and 25 wood, earns 100 gold
  • Cabin upgrade, costs 25 wood and earns 50 gold
  • Cabin gardens, costs 25 food and earns 50 gold and adds 50 happiness

Cottages

  • Cottage requires 2 workers, costs 50 food and 50 wood, earns 150 gold
  • Cottage upgrade, costs 50 wood and earns 75 gold
  • Cottage gardens, costs 50 food and earns 75 gold and adds 50 happiness

Chalets

  • Chalet requires 3 workers, costs 75 food and 75 wood, earns 200 gold
  • Chalet upgrade, costs 75 wood, earns 100 gold
  • Chalet garden, costs 75 food, earns 100 gold and adds 50 happiness

Mansions

  • Not avaiilable to build in this game
  • Some levels have mansions to provide rent and happiness

Buildings

  • Sawmill: requires 2 workers. costs 1000 gold, wood costs 8 gold per unit and available in 50, 100, and 250 batches with no discount for quantity
  • Market: requires 2 workers, costs 1000 gold, food costs 8 gold per unit and available in 50, 100, and 250 batches with no discount for quantity
  • Bank: requires 2 workers, costs 100 food and 100 wood, adds 50% bonus for each rent, one per level; extra banks are not helpful
  • Dovecote: requires 2 workers, costs 100 food and 100 wood, plus 2 doves costing 50 food each, gives 25 happiness for each house for a total of 50

  • Flowerbeds -- cost 25 food and 25 wood, gives 25 happiness
  • Gramophones -- cost 75 food and 75 wood, gives 50 happiness
  • Fountains -- cost 250 food and 250 wood, gives 100 happiness
  • Statues -- cost 750 food and 750 wood, gives 200 happiness

  • From sawmill, 50 wood for 400 gold, 100 wood for 800 gold, 250 wood for 2000 gold
  • Trees, 25 wood each tree
  • Obstructions on road, 25 wood
  • Forestry -- staffs 2 workers and gives 25 wood per worker

Food

  • From market, 50 food for 400 gold, 100 food for 800 gold, 250 food for 2000 gold
  • Berry bushes, 25 food per harvest, 3 harvests per bush
  • Farms-- staffs 2 workers and gives 25 food per worker

Happiness

  • Gardens on housing units add 50 happiness
  • Decorations add varying amounts of happiness
  • Dovecotes with 2 doves add 50 happiness per accessible housing unit

Workers

  • Hire additional workers from the castle for 50 food
  • Free workers from behind obstructions

Additional items

  • Elephants -- Lure elephant to suck up water for 250 food
  • Runes -- Read them for free
  • Rabbit Holes -- Pop from island to island
  • Treasure chests -- Open for neat stuff
  • Buried treasure -- On a few levels there will be a coin marker to dig up for treasure
  • Gluttons -- Block your way and require varying amounts of food to move
  • Pirates -- Block your way and require varying amounts of gold to move
  • Lanterns -- Cost 50 wood to repair and light the way
  • Rock obstructions -- Depending on size, need 1 worker or 3 workers to remove
  • Wood obstructions -- Usually need 1 worker and give 25 wood
  • Pirates by a Bonfire -- Pay 500 gold to light a fire to light the way for a short period of time
  • Wells -- Cost 50 wood and are necessary for housing in desert levels
  • Building lots -- Cost 50 food and 50 wood for lot on water
  • Beehives -- Cost 50 wood to remove bees
  • Bees -- Remove 50 happiness and 50 gold from each housing unit in the area
  • Leprechaun -- Blocks your way until you cheer him up with varying amounts of happiness
  • Snow obstructions -- Depending on size, need 1 worker or 3 workers to remove
  • Obelisks -- Cost 50 wood to repair and clear fog
  • Druids -- Costs 500 wood for clearing of fog for a short period of time

Achievements

Below are achievements that do not come automatically with playing through the game 2-3 times

  • Kingdom's Best Fisherman -- Catch 250 fish
  • Rabbit Hole Wizard -- Use the Rabbit Holes 1000 times
  • Trading Money for Light -- Ignite 100 pirate bonfires [Level 20 works well]
  • A Little Help from the Druids -- Light fires under 100 druid caldrons
  • Royal Dovecote -- Buy 150 Doves
  • Let There Be Light! -- Repair 100 Lanterns
  • Fog No More -- Repair 100 Obelisks
  • Bee Whisperer -- Build 50 Beehives
  • Food Supply -- Accumulate 10,000 Food on any level  [Level 62 is a good one]
  • You Can't Have Too Much Wood -- Accumulate 10,000 Wood on any level [Level 62]
  • One Click - One Worker -- Catch 20 workers without missing a single one in the Rescue Mission quest (level 8) You don't have to get the first 20, you just can't click and miss so take your time
  • Royal Forester -- Grow 100 palm trees on level 27 (While doing this goal, you can also not pay the pirate to get one of those out of the way)
  • Royal Gardener -- Grow 100 food bushes on level 27
  • No Time to Haggle -- Pay pirate 100,000 gold over the course of the entire game
  • Nobody Goes Hungry -- Give 100,000 to gluttons over the course of the entire game [Level 63]
  • Guarding the Royal Coffers -- Catch all the thieves after the robber at the central bank in level 34  Go into the windowed mode and click off the screen to pause as a thief pops out.  Then you can position your cursor right over the thief and double click and then click off the screen to pause again
  • Say No to Drought! -- Build 50 wells
  • Building on Water -- Create 50 building lots on the water [Level 28]
  • Royal Aim -- Whitewash the rival team in the Snowball Fight
  • Decoration Nation -- Build 100 flowerbeds, 75 gramophones, 50 fountains, and 25 statues [Level 26 works well]
  • Money Can't Buy Happiness -- Earn more than 2,500 happiness on any level without using decorations [Level 57, don't pay 7000 gold pirate and build 5 dovecotes and add gardens to remaining cabins]
  • Fear of Holes -- Complete 5 levels while only using each Rabbit Hole not more than one time on a level [Levels 51,52, 53, 55, 56]
  • A King Does Not Negotiate -- Complete five levels with pirates without paying them [Level 21, 27. 33. 34, 52]
  • Serious Business -- Complete five levels with Leprechauns without making the happy [Levels 30, 31, 32, others come by following walkthrough] 
  • Glutton Diet -- Complete five levels with gluttons without ever feeding them [Level 27, 52, 60, others come by following walkthrough] 
  • Global Reconstruction -- In a single level, building every type of house and construct every type of building on the same lot
  • Architect -- In a single level, build every type of house on the same building lot
  • Wasted Resources -- Complete a level while allowing 5000 gold, 1000 wood, and 1000 food go to waste by NOT collecting them [Level 6 works well]
