Governor of Poker 2 Review

By zavy
08/30/2010
The sequel to Governor of Poker was released and I was thrilled to play it. I spent many late nights trying to take down those Gamblers in the first one and I was looking forward to the challenge of the second. So far I have not been disappointed. The game-play is essentially the same as the first: your job is to win enough money to buy up the local towns and beat enough notorious gambles so you can face off with the Governor. However, version 2 more fully engages the player with a lot more data at your fingertips and a more complete world. I like how with a simple mouse-over you can easily see where your current hand ranks in the pecking order of poker hands and with a single click you can review the results of the previous hand.

Another improvement in the game is the non-linear play. You are no longer restricted to a set of cities. If you have the money, you can go anywhere and play. You can even gamble while riding on the various forms of transportation.

The graphics are improved as well and you can purchase your own hat! I’m not sure if it is just me, but the level of difficult seems higher in this version, with the locals raising their bets higher sooner. The only sour note I encountered was a typo in the very first dialog you read, which spells the Spanish word “Hola” as “Ola”. Come on guys, who was proof reading this stuff?

Samantha Swift and the Fountains of Fate Cheats and Walkthrough

By anne

Back to school, but with trying to finish this guide for Samantha Swift and the Fountains of Fate, I still haven't finished unpacking!

Lucy, my roommate, and her brother Curtis, my sort of boyfriend, arrive today. I can't wait! Finally, I can go on real dates! Don't worry, I'll still find time to write more game guides.

Speaking of game guides, I should fill you in on this one. I tried a new format, its mostly screenshots with very little text in the guide. As always, Blue Tea Games brings another great Samantha Swift game to us. The hand drawn graphics always draw me in and they are always fun to play. My only complaints were there were not enough puzzles and the storyline was a little weak. Either way, it's defiantly worth playing.

Now, I start classes in a few days and after that I will be pretty busy. I'm currently working on Englightenus II guide and I hope to have that out to you in a couple weeks at the most. Happy gaming!

Echoes of the Past Castle of Shadows Review

By cecelia

Brrr! It was cold this morning! I kept myself bust and warm most of the morning making Rum Cakes for our weekend Farmer’s Market. By afternoon I needed a rest so naturally I turned to Big Fish Games for some fun and relaxation. I chose this game for no particular reason. It just caught my interest. I wasn’t disappointed. The game begins when you are called to a museum by a Princess. She needs you to go back in time 100 years and bring back the citizens who have been turned into shadows by an evil witch. There is a lot of moving around in this game, which I like. It keeps you on your toes. You might be moving back and forth between 4 or 5 different scenes to solve one mystery. Another thing I like in a game is a lot of puzzles. This game has that. And some of them are really tough. There is a skip button for the puzzles but it adds 20 minutes to your time each time you use it. That never bothers me but some of the more competitive types do not like it! Also this game is very long. I’m talking really really long. So plan to spend some time when you sit down to play. The graphics and Music are super. All in all I give this game an A. Worth every penny!

Nemo's Secret: The Nautilus Review

By cecelia

What a beautiful day at our new home. If you feel kind of grumpy when you get up in the morning you won't feel that way for long. One look out the window and a good cup of coffee will have you on your feet in no time. But on to the review before I make anyone too envious.

My review for the week is Nemo’s Secret. I really liked this game. The graphics and music are the best ever. Clicking on objects in the game sends them to different places which is fun. At first I didn’t pick up on that and clicked on the same object twice, but I soon figured it out. Another thing I liked about the game is all the mini puzzles. Most of them are familiar and not all that hard so you don’t get stressed out trying to solve them. I found this game a relaxing and enjoyable experience. Some of the reviews were not too favorable but I disagree. Play it and see what you think. If you need to relax after a hard day, this game is for you!

Nightfall Mysteries: Asylum Conspiracy Cheats and Walkthrough

By anne

I just finished playing, Nightfall Mysteries: Asylum Conspiracy. Talk about a spooky game! So a quick review about it. The graphics were great, the storyline kept me intrigued and the music, well, it creeped me out after awhile and I turned it off.

The cons... there was a lot of repeats in the hidden object areas and the puzzles could be very devious. I'm ashamed to say, I had to skip some! Anyway, I hope the guide is helpful.

Now, abut me. I go back to college very soon now. A few weeks left, where did summer go?! I found out Lucy will be my roommate again! Not to mention, her brother is transferring to our university! We'll be able to go on real dates, not just talk on the phone or Facebook.

The latest Samantha Swift game just released, so expect to see that from me next and after that, hopefully Enlightenus II. Until then, happy gaming and enjoy the rest of your summer!

Golden Trails: The New Western Rush Review

By cecelia

There has been a lot of changes in my life... my pets and I have a new home in a beautiful new part of the country. There has been many adjustments to make but we all seem to be doing okay; we are still in the West and so we are happy campers. It is nice to have games to play to take my mind off the stress of change. The main reason I chose Golden Trails: The New Western Rush is because they created one of my favorite Match 3 games.

There is so much going on in this game you will not be bored. The storyline is just so-so but that’s okay because you won’t be concentrating on that anyway. There is not only a lot of hidden objects to find but a lot of mini games as well. Plus you get to shoot bandits that pop up while you are looking for hidden objects. This can be important because that is how you get your hints.

There is also hidden treasure to look for, sheriffs badges to find, unlocking the unlimited play mode in the game and trophies you can earn. I only touched the tip of the iceberg when I played the trial . Gotta buy the game and play the whole thing so I can see what else is in store. Play the trial game and see what you think. I bet you get hooked to.

Cake Mania: Lights, Camera, Action Review

By jasper

I’m not sure what version of Bakersfield Jill is living in, but I have to say I much prefer her version to the one I’ve frequently experienced! Bakersfield bashing aside, I have to say this installment of Cake Mania is a wonderful addition to the franchise. The game is most similar to Cake Mania: Main Street in that there are separate venues to play, each with its own unique game play. Gordo's Italian restaurant and Risha’s high-end boutique each have 25 levels to play on top of the 60 that come with the bakery. Gordo’s is a cooking-style game where you combine ingredients behind the counter and Risha’s is a time-management/hidden object mix where you must retrieve items customers are shopping for. And to further complicate matters – Jill is pregnant! This plot twist allows the writers to introduce some interesting twists into the game. Whether you are a long time fan or new to the Cake Mania series, this game is worth giving a try.

Dream Chronicles Book of Air Cheats and Walkthrough

By anne
07/12/2010
Dream Chronicles: Book of Air finally released! I was so excited that I wrote a guide right away.

What can I say about Dream Chronicles that hasn't already been said. I love the series. It has the best graphics, puzzles, story, and music.

Now, what did I think if this particular one? I was expecting it would leave off where the last one did. It does not. It starts an entirely new (I assume) trilogy, based on what happens with Lyra, their daughter. To guide her is her grandfather.

The game was fun and the guide was written in challenge mode, but it was short! It ended way too soon, but with a promise of another game on the horizon.

That said, if you are a fan of the series, play it! You will enjoy it, but be warned, it has an abrupt ending. I hope the game guide helps you.

Until my next guide, enjoy gaming!
