In Palworld, you will progress faster by aiming for big power spikes (major jumps in damage or defense) instead of crafting every new unlock right away. Early on, stick with simple ranged weapons that use cheap ammo. Move into stronger firearms when your ore and ingot production is stable. Keep one reliable close-range weapon for emergencies, but let your ranged weapon handle most dangerous fights and boss pressure.
Use that same approach for armor. Upgrade when you reach a new material tier (a higher-level set of crafting materials), then hold until the next meaningful jump. If repairs are constantly draining resources, that usually means your current fights are too expensive for your economy. Build for consistency first, then push harder content once your ammo and repair loop feels comfortable.
Pal Gear Priority That Actually Speeds Progress
Pal Gear is equipment made at the Pal Gear Workbench that unlocks certain Partner Skills (a Pal's unique ability, like mounting or combat support). Prioritize utility Pal Gear first: get a fast mount for travel time savings, then exploration and farming utility, then combat-focused Partner Skills. This order gives you more materials and faster map control, which speeds up every later weapon and armor upgrade.
Before you commit to a new weapon tier, do a quick check: recipe unlocked, material income stable, ammo production sustainable, and repair stock prepared. If one ingredient is the bottleneck, fix base production before upgrading. In Palworld, a slightly weaker setup with reliable ammo and repairs will outperform a stronger setup you cannot sustain.
