Opening Story:

In Rite of Passage Child of the Forest, your husband is haunted by dreams of a strange woman beckoning him into the night. Convinced that she can lead him to a way to save the town, he follows her into the dangerous forest alone. Determined to find him, you track him down, only to have to retreat to the safety of the town once more. But danger follows you, as the lighthouse, the only guardian that can stand against the evil in the woods, bursts into flames, you know that it's only a matter of time before the trees come to claim the town and all it's people for their own. Now, it's up to you to find a way to restore the lighthouse, find your husband, and save the town from this dark and endless night.

General Tips for Rite of Passage Child of the Forest

Difficulty - Four modes: Casual, Experienced, Masterful, and Custom. In Casual Mode, you will have the option to play the tutorial, active areas will sparkle, HOS will sparkle, hint and skip buttons charge quickly, and the map will have hint indicators. In Experienced Mode, there is no tutorial, no active area sparkles, HOS will sparkle, hint and skip buttons charge slowly, and there are no hint indicators on the map. In Masterful Mode, there is no tutorial, no active sparkles, no HOS sparkles, no hint or skip buttons, no map indicators. In Custom Mode, you will be able to set all your difficulty options according to your preference.

Question Marks - When you see your cursor turn into a question mark, it means you can find out more information about that particular area or item.

Navigation Cursor - When your cursor turns into an arrow, it means you can move in that direction.

Magnifying Glass - When your cursor turns into a magnifying glass, it means you can zoom in and take a closer look on an area. It also means you have found an HOS scene and you just need to click to play it.

Hand - When your cursor turns into a hand, it means you can pick up an object and place it in your inventory or interact with it in some way.

Gears - When your cursor turns into gears, it means you can use an item from your inventory in that location.

Journal - Your journal can be found in the lower right hand corner of your screen. Game notes and observations that you make throughout the adventure can be found here. You can also access your achievements from your journal.

Hints -  The hint button is found in the lower left hand corner of your screen. Click here if you're stuck. Just remember, the button takes time to charge before you can use it again.

Plus Sign - When you see a plus sign on an object in your inventory, it means you can examine it more closely.

Acorns - There are 34 acorns hidden throughout the game. Try to collect them all.

Inventory -  Your inventory can be found at the bottom of your screen. Hover your mouse over it to bring it up. To lock it in place, click on the padlock on the left.

Hidden Object Scenes - Hidden object scenes will sparkle in certain modes. Find the images on your list throughout the scene.

Mini-games - During mini-games, if you can't figure out the puzzle or don't feel like trying to solve it, you can click the skip button to skip the puzzle and move on.

Map - Once you find the map, you just need to select the parchment to open it. A red circle shows your current location. Red Xs show where you still have objectives to accomplish. Click on an area to fast travel to it.

Menu -  The menu button is located at the bottom left-hand corner of your screen.
