In DAVE THE DIVER, story progress comes from main objectives in the To-Do app (your in-game quest tracker), not from only farming fish. Your core loop is still daytime dives in the Blue Hole and nighttime shifts at Bancho Sushi. If you feel stuck, check your active main objective first and plan your dive around it.
New routes and systems usually unlock after you clear the right quest step and then move to the next time phase (that night or the next morning). Depth is gear-gated, which means your equipment controls how deep you can safely go: upgrading your Diving Suit raises your safe-depth limit. Later objectives can also require deeper access or quest-specific tools. If progress slows, do a quick three-part check: quest step, gear/depth, and time phase.
What usually gates new Blue Hole areas
Use this quick check before each run:
- Prioritize one main mission target per dive instead of trying to farm everything at once.
- Bring gear that matches the goal, such as capture-focused tools for live targets or stronger combat options for boss prep.
- Keep enough oxygen and carry-weight budget to secure mission items first, profit fish second.
- If a quest points to a night/event step, complete it and advance time so the next trigger can appear.
Simple progression routine for new players
At the start of each day, read the current main objective and sketch a simple route through the Blue Hole. During the dive, secure objective items early, then use leftover time on profitable catches. At night, run Bancho Sushi, clear any marked event prompts, and advance time to check for the next story beat. Repeat this loop and you will keep unlocking areas and features without long stalls.
