Build Hearts Efficiently in Coral Island
In Coral Island, relationships are tracked with Hearts (the heart meter in your Relationship menu). On a new save, pick one or two romance candidates and focus on them first instead of trying to raise everyone at once. A reliable loop is simple: chat when you cross paths, give consistent liked or loved gifts, and prioritize birthday gifts because they give a much bigger relationship boost.
Make gifting part of your normal route. Carry a small stack of safe gifts for your target so you can hand them over during farming, diving, or mining days without big detours. Early game, consistency matters more than perfection. Later, switch to favorite gifts to speed up Heart gains.
Heart Events, Dating, and Marriage Checklist
Heart events are character scenes tied to relationship milestones. As your Hearts rise, these events can require specific locations, times, weather, or day conditions. Since the 1.2 romance update, progress can also lock behind required hangout and heart events, so check the Relationship UI if progress stalls.
For dating and marriage, follow this order: reach 8 Hearts with your chosen dateable, get the Blacksmith letter, buy a Locket, and give it to start dating and unlock higher romance Hearts. Then finish the required romance events, confirm your home upgrade is ready, and buy the Diamond Ring from the Blacksmith before proposing.
