Spirit Seasons: Little Ghost Story Review

2011-02-17
Another day of welcoming rain in northern California! Last week we had a barbeque in 80 degree weather and this morning we are starting a fire in the wood stove. I should have written this review last week but I have a bad case of writers block. So please bear with me till it passes. It seems to me every time I look for a game to play lately all there is to play is ghost stories. What’s up with that? It’s not that I don’t like them but the scenes are so dark I can”t see to play them. Lighten up people! I mean that literally. Anyway I finally found one I can see and it is fun to boot. The game begins with the story tellers car breaking down in front of an old mansion. Inside is the butler Jacob and a little mischievous ghost named Agatha. She is a pistol! So watch out for her pranks. There are a lot of hidden object scenes in this game. They are bright and uncluttered. There is a hint button if you need it. Try not to use it too much. It is so much fun in this game to find it on your own. You have a choice of playing in casual or experienced mode. Take your pick. Play both of them and you will see different endings. This is a family friendly game. The graphics are great and all and all an entertaining game for all.

I hope everyone had a nice Valentine's Day, or as my single friends call it, Single Awareness Day. Curtis and I went out for a nice dinner, he bought me some beautiful flowers and some chocolates. It was a first Valentine's Day, so he went "classic style." I had a wonderful time.

Summer Resort Mogul Review

2011-02-02
Wheew! What a year it’s been! After a lot of thought I’ve decided to transfer to a new school on the central coast of California. So far I love San Luis Obispo, but who wouldn’t?? According to Oprah it has just been named the happiest city in the United States, can’t beat that!!

Planet Horse Review - A Show Jumping Game

2011-01-14
Planet Horse brings the player into the world of show jumping. The player can customize the horse by choosing from a variety of breeds and markings. From there, you and your horse set out to meet a variety of challenges that range from leisure riding tasks (like collecting plants) to high stakes competition. The competition side has a variety of courses and include the typical jumps you see in competition riding like Verticals, Oxers, Triple Bars, open water, etc. There are arena courses and cross-country courses. Winning competitions and completing quests allows you to upgrade your equipment and even buy a variety of clothes for the rider. I played the trial of this game and really enjoyed it. Here’s a tip for the harder jumps: just click your mouse as much as possible over the pad: the timing doesn’t seem to matter. This is the only way I could get through it. If you evenly remotely like horses or are curious about the world of show jumping, you’ll likely enjoy this game a lot.

Roads of Rome 2 Cheats and Walkthrough

2011-01-08
It hasn't been too long since I wrote the walkthrough for the first Roads of Rome game, and now I'm writing about the sequel. Good thing that I really love this game. In Roads of Road 2 you will be building roads to get to and appease various Roman gods in the hope of finding a cure for your true love's father, Caesar who has been poisoned. This is a nicer concept that being forced to build roads so as to be kept away from Rome!

Cradle of Rome 2 Review

2011-01-02
First of all I would like to wish you all a happy and prosperous New Year. We had a New Year surprise when we woke up to snow on our front door. That normally doesn’t happen where we live. What do I have to do to get away from this white stuff? My Granddaughter was thrilled however so let it snow. I was thrilled to see Cradle of Rome 2 on our new list of games. Cradle of Rome is my favorite Match 3 game. I play a little of it everyday to relax or just to kill time. Cradle of Rome 2 did not disappoint. It is just as good as the first one and has a few new tricks to make the game a little more interesting.

Fiction Fixers The Curse of OZ Review

2011-01-02
One of my favorite Movies is the Wizard of Oz. I have watched it soo many times. When I saw The Fiction Fixers:The Curse of Oz I jumped on it. Although it doesn’t follow the story exactly it is close enough for me. I had a great time playing it. It is very family friendly so the whole gang can join in if you want. I didn’t play the other Fiction Fixer game so I can’t compare the two but this one is great fun. The deal is Victor Vile has joined up with the wicked witch of the westand has put the whole land of Oz in the dark. The fixers job is to take care of that little situation. So first we pick up Dorothy from the hurricane and we are on our way down the yellow brick road. We pick up our 3 buddies along the way. There is a lot of puzzles to solve and very good hidden object scenes. There are also items you put together to help along the way. Don’t forget to include your new friends to help you solve the predicaments you run into. There is also a map to tell you which scenes you have completed and which ones still need work. You’re going to have a good time while you play this.

Ella's Hope Cheats and Walkthrough

2010-12-29
Ella's Hope is the first of what I hope will be a wonderful series of new strategy games. Having not played Aveyond, this was my first foray into RPG games and I absolutely loved this game. While initially not too enthused by the seemingly simple gameplay and graphics, I was quickly and completely absorbed by the story line and the challenge of this game.

Cursed House Review

2010-12-29
Well we are back in our Northern California home after spending a wonderful summer In the Great Northwest. We had a wonderful time. Walked every morning for 45 minutes. We went to Crater Lake and climbed Watchman’s Peak, Met some very nice people and all and all had a very good time. But when the first snow hit the ground it was time for the pets and me to head home. I am not a lover of snow in any way, shape or form. It is alright to look at on a post card but even then it makes me shiver. I couldn’t wait to get back to the Golden State.

Farm Tribe Cheats and Walkthrough

2010-12-17
Why do we always get left in the lurch? Because making money to buy a flat screen is not such a great basis for a computer game. Farm Tribe places you into the situation of having to raise lots of money because your father has gone off exploring. Too bad for him you also find an amazing archaeological discovery. While you are discovering Mayan relics, you are also given the task of finding a large collection of hidden objects.

Garden Panic Review

2010-12-17
Garden Panic falls solidly in the tower defense genre, so if you like these types of games, you'll likely enjoy this one. This variant has your typical variety of plants, which act as your towers. As you would expect, some are dedicated to ground bugs like centipedes, others get the butterflies, and then there are your hybrids. I was surprised to see there didn't appear to be any that slowed the creatures. I've played the game about half way through and plan to finish it. Download the trial and see if you like it.

Youda Farmer 2 Cheats and Walkthrough

2010-11-28
Come play the newest installment in the Youda series. In Youda Farmer 2, your mission is to save your farm and village from the Big Boss taking over. You will earn money producing and selling items to build and upgrade your way to success. You will also go around finding gadget pieces to build some awesome inventions to sabotage the Big Boss and his workers. The game play is fast and energetic. Get your mouse in gear; this one is hopping. You should take the time to look at all the gadgets in use on your farm and in your village; they are quite imaginative and humorous.

Roads of Rome Cheats and Walkthrough

2010-11-24
Isn't it wonderful to make someone else work their tail off while you give the commands? In Roads of Rome you play as Victorius a young general in Caesar's army. Because you love Caesar's daughter, you will build all of the Roman roads he demands of you. Too bad he doesn't want you to marry his daughter and gives you bigger and bigger challenges, sending you to far flung and harsh environments.

A Magnetic Adventure Review: Something Different

2010-11-12
This is my pick for "Something Different" this month. You star as a budding magnet working your way through magnet university. You learn how drag a variety of items around to complete various brain teasers. I didn't find the puzzles that challenging but I really enjoyed seeing the creativity of the various machines and cogs in the game. Sometimes I think I had more fun playing with the machines in the game than solving the puzzles. I very much enjoyed playing this Brain Teaser and would recommend it if you are looking for a change of pace.

Mystery Age The Dark Priests Review

2010-11-12
Hey gamers! I've decided every week to pick out what I think is the best hidden object game released. This week's pick is... Mystery Age: The Dark Priest!

The Island Castaway Cheats and Walkthrough

2010-11-10
Are you ready for a vacation? Do you need some time on the beach with the waves lapping on the sound? Get lost with The Island: Castaway. In this game you play as a single character, Tom. You are totally willing to uncomplainingly do whatever is requested of you. This game has a captivating story line, wonderful visuals, and relaxing background sounds. There is no music in the game, just the natural sounds of a tropical island. It is peaceful to be on this island.

My Kingdom for the Princess II Cheats and Walkthrough

2010-11-04
We grew to love them in My Kingdom for the Princess. We begged for more. In My Kingdom for the Princess II, follow Sir Arthur and Princess Helen on their honeymoon to the beach by hot air balloon. Disaster strikes and their hot air balloon is ruined, so they need to help clean up the island to borrow the natives’ boat. In the process, the princess is kidnapped and Sir Arthur must rescue her. But who cares? We’re just here to play a game and the storyline only gives us a weak reason to do so. If we needed a good reason to play games, we wouldn’t be here now, would we?

Mystery Legends: The Phantom of the Opera Review

2010-11-01
As a fan of The Phantom of the Opera, I thought I'd give Mystery Legends: The Phantom of the Opera (Collector's Edition) a try. The storyline is pretty loose. You are the daughter of the woman originally taken by the phantom, and now he wants revenge. So he captures you and locks you in the half burnt opera house. The object of the game is to find your way out, of course.

Twisted Lands: Shadow Town Review

2010-10-29
Hey gamers! Well, Curtis has to cancel our date because he's sick so I decided to try a new game, instead of working on that paper like I should be. The game I tried was Twisted Lands: Shadow Town.

Secret Diaries: Florence Ashford Review

2010-10-27
Hey gamers! I'm here to review another hidden object game that was recently released. Secret Diaries: Florence Ashford.

Farmers Market Walkthrough

2010-10-27
You will love Farmers Market if you are a lover of time management games where you do not have to frantically click to pick up products, seat people in the properly colored chairs, or have your blood pressure go up while trying to complete a level. In this game you build different farmers market stalls to sell items to the customers of the market. You can sell items that come directly from the farm or combine them together to make delicious treats, such as cookies, pies, fries, and BBQ. Once you build your stalls, your workers will keep them supplied with ingredients, deliver drinks to hungry stall owners, and empty trashcans to keep the customers happy. You will be able to send items to the judging booth to increase their value. Buying a bandstand will increase the number of customers in the market.

Ancient Spirits: Columbus' Legacy Review

2010-10-22
I decided between studies to review another game. I'm trying to in order as they are released, but I'm a little behind. The game I just tried was Ancient Spirits: Columbus' Legacy.

Dark Tales Edgar Allan Poe's The Black Cat Review

I've been so busy studying for tests and writing papers that I haven't had much time for guide writing. Sorry!

Victorian Mysteries Woman in White Review

2010-10-12
It was a dark and dreary day to wake up to this morning. It was so foggy when Lulu and I went for our walk we could barely see the road in front of us. No matter, we were both glad to be in the great outdoors. And two hours later the sun was shining brightly in our great northwest home. What a wonderful place to live. There is nothing like the smell of wet pine needles in the morning and the sight of cattle grazing in the meadow.

Nightmare Adventures: The Witch's Prison Review

2010-09-20
This is the first Adventure game I have played. It is so good I was three-fourth of the way through it before I realized it wasn’t a hidden object game! You can really get wrapped up in this game right from the get-go. The story is about Kiera Vale. She is trying to piece together her family tree. This takes her to an asylum where the fun begins. I don’t know about you, but if my research had taken me there, that would have been the end of it. But Kiera is a brave girl and presses on. The puzzles in this game are the best. You can skip if you want, but try and solve them if you can.

Blooming Daisies Review

2010-09-20
I have been trying to develop a green thumb recently since moving into our first house. I've been asking my gardening friends and doing lots of research on the internet and learning quite a bit, though I am having to learn some things the hard way. For instance, I discovered a little too late that less is more when it comes to tomato plants. They almost took over my entire garden before I realized that pruning was not only okay but good for the plant. The upside is I am getting lots of tomatoes, though I'm still waiting for them to ripen, and not without the loss of my poor strawberry plant. But regardless of the lessons learned, it has been a very fulfilling process. I just love going out to work in the garden in the morning with my cup of coffee in hand. There is something quite calming about this kind of work, and it feels good for my soul.

Youda Survivor Cheats and Walkthrough

2010-09-13
If you like the Farm Frenzy series, you will most likely enjoy playing Youda Survivor. Think Farm Frenzy set on an island and instead of bears, you've got to battle pirates. Despite the similarities, I still found the game different enough to be enjoyable in its own right. We've put together some tips in the walkthrough, but please help us fill it out by adding your own tips to the forum.

Alt Shift Review

2010-09-12
We always like to review games we feel are original and Alt Shift definitely falls into that category. This cleverly constructed logic/strategy game is visually simple (aesthetically similar to World of Goo, but with a harder edge) yet mentally challenging and rewarding. You must solve labyrinths by both inverting and rotating the maze. You will likely be stymied by some of the harder levels, but you can always skip them and come back to them if you like. Definitely worth a try if you are looking for something different to play.

Governor of Poker 2 Review

2010-08-30
The sequel to Governor of Poker was released and I was thrilled to play it. I spent many late nights trying to take down those Gamblers in the first one and I was looking forward to the challenge of the second. So far I have not been disappointed. The game-play is essentially the same as the first: your job is to win enough money to buy up the local towns and beat enough notorious gambles so you can face off with the Governor. However, version 2 more fully engages the player with a lot more data at your fingertips and a more complete world. I like how with a simple mouse-over you can easily see where your current hand ranks in the pecking order of poker hands and with a single click you can review the results of the previous hand.

Samantha Swift and the Fountains of Fate Cheats and Walkthrough

Back to school, but with trying to finish this guide for Samantha Swift and the Fountains of Fate, I still haven't finished unpacking!

Echoes of the Past Castle of Shadows Review

2010-08-14
Brrr! It was cold this morning! I kept myself bust and warm most of the morning making Rum Cakes for our weekend Farmer’s Market. By afternoon I needed a rest so naturally I turned to Big Fish Games for some fun and relaxation. I chose this game for no particular reason. It just caught my interest. I wasn’t disappointed. The game begins when you are called to a museum by a Princess. She needs you to go back in time 100 years and bring back the citizens who have been turned into shadows by an evil witch. There is a lot of moving around in this game, which I like. It keeps you on your toes. You might be moving back and forth between 4 or 5 different scenes to solve one mystery. Another thing I like in a game is a lot of puzzles. This game has that. And some of them are really tough. There is a skip button for the puzzles but it adds 20 minutes to your time each time you use it. That never bothers me but some of the more competitive types do not like it! Also this game is very long. I’m talking really really long. So plan to spend some time when you sit down to play. The graphics and Music are super. All in all I give this game an A. Worth every penny!

Nemo's Secret: The Nautilus Review

2010-08-09
What a beautiful day at our new home. If you feel kind of grumpy when you get up in the morning you won't feel that way for long. One look out the window and a good cup of coffee will have you on your feet in no time. But on to the review before I make anyone too envious.

Nightfall Mysteries: Asylum Conspiracy Cheats and Walkthrough

2010-08-08
I just finished playing, Nightfall Mysteries: Asylum Conspiracy. Talk about a spooky game! So a quick review about it. The graphics were great, the storyline kept me intrigued and the music, well, it creeped me out after awhile and I turned it off.

Golden Trails: The New Western Rush Review

2010-07-30
There has been a lot of changes in my life... my pets and I have a new home in a beautiful new part of the country. There has been many adjustments to make but we all seem to be doing okay; we are still in the West and so we are happy campers. It is nice to have games to play to take my mind off the stress of change. The main reason I chose Golden Trails: The New Western Rush is because they created one of my favorite Match 3 games.

Cake Mania: Lights, Camera, Action Review

2010-07-16
I’m not sure what version of Bakersfield Jill is living in, but I have to say I much prefer her version to the one I’ve frequently experienced! Bakersfield bashing aside, I have to say this installment of Cake Mania is a wonderful addition to the franchise. The game is most similar to Cake Mania: Main Street in that there are separate venues to play, each with its own unique game play. Gordo's Italian restaurant and Risha’s high-end boutique each have 25 levels to play on top of the 60 that come with the bakery. Gordo’s is a cooking-style game where you combine ingredients behind the counter and Risha’s is a time-management/hidden object mix where you must retrieve items customers are shopping for. And to further complicate matters – Jill is pregnant! This plot twist allows the writers to introduce some interesting twists into the game. Whether you are a long time fan or new to the Cake Mania series, this game is worth giving a try.

4 Elements Cheats and Walkthrough

2010-07-13
For fourth of July weekend I decided to review Funny Miners. The game play is similar to Farm Frenzy and the strategy is similar as well. Its not quite as well executed as the Farm Frenzy series and the writing (possibly translation?) is a bit off, but if you enjoy the Farm Frenzy series and are looking to do something similar with miners, snakes, and rats instead of sheep and bears, this game is for you.

Dream Chronicles Book of Air Cheats and Walkthrough

2010-07-12
Dream Chronicles: Book of Air finally released! I was so excited that I wrote a guide right away.

Super Smasher Review - Something Different

2010-07-09
If you are looking for something unique and a little different, you should check out Super Smasher. This game is undoubtedly sadistic, but in a fun way. Its your job to pop people's balloons and smash them in the face with pies. Its sounds cruel, but you so quickly get caught up in the action the cruelty of your actions doesn't hamper the fun. There are a couple different mini games that are similar to Bloons, Match-3 and Bust-A-Move. There are different modes you can play to adjust how hectic the game gets. I have to say I really enjoyed playing it and it was refreshing to have something different besides a time management or hidden object game.
