General Overview and Tips

In Rivage, it is easy to reach a locked terminal with a pocket full of clues and no idea which one it wants. Give each clue a home: note the room, the object, and the lock it points to. That small habit makes each trip through the A.R.E.S. station feel like an investigation into the missing crew, not another tour of the same doors.

First loop goal: learn how clues work

Start in Miranda’s Bedroom. Pick up and scan the K9 leaflet on the table. K9 is Miranda’s record of saved discoveries, including some puzzle answers that carry through a reset.

Hint: At Miranda’s computer, choose Forgot Password. The clue says “My Bestseller.” Look for a book near the computer.

Spoiler — solution: The book is Stardust. Enter its title as the password and read the emails. To get Miranda’s ID card, read the vault-reset instructions in the case outside her room, then use the date in the Optima Vault email to open her vault. Turn the card over and scan its barcode. Its saved access data carries through a reset; a card you are carrying normally does not.

Keep a useful K9 record

  1. Scan access cards before leaving them behind. Check K9 to make sure the card data appears.
  2. Capture patterns and small print with K9’s screenshot tool. On PC, hold R; on console, use the control shown in the game. Make a short note for yourself naming the room and target, such as “Kitchen ceiling pattern → Dock System panel.”
  3. Put color and sound into words too. Write down each light’s color, shape, and position, such as “green light at top left.” For an audio clue, note the order of tones or numbered controls. If K9 saved a recording, replay it to check your notes.

K9 keeps saved passwords, scanned access data, screenshots, audio and video logs, and installed upgrades through a reset. Ordinary physical items, such as batteries, keys, and cards you are carrying, must be collected again when a later step needs them. Do not assume a door, machine, or unfinished puzzle stays as you left it.

When power runs short

Set one goal before spending power on doors or station systems: find a clue, secure access, or deliver an item. Check the power left before a long trip. If the lights go out, use K9’s flashlight and finish a useful task you can still reach. Scan or capture what you found, then use the Time Trickster arcade machine in the Storage Room off the Kitchen to reset. Back in Miranda’s Bedroom, open K9 first. Choose the next goal from what it saved, and collect the physical items that goal needs. A spent loop can still give you the clue that makes the next one count.
