How to Set Up a Manager for Passive Income
You’ve squeezed another bookshelf into the shop, the storage room is full, and now a desk wants floor space too. Before you reshuffle your whole bookish kingdom, check which desk you need. In Bookshop Simulator, passive income—money from a shop while you work at another location—requires both a hired manager and a Manager Desk at that shop.
Set up the shop you’ll leave behind
- Visit the bookshop you want to run remotely. This is the location you’ll leave while you work elsewhere.
- Place a Manager Desk in that shop. A desk at your other location does not cover this one.
- Open Zap Recruiter, the hiring app, and hire that shop’s manager. Placing the desk alone does not hire anyone.
- Travel to another location. Keep playing there with the game running; the managed shop is now the remote location.
Each remote location needs its own hired manager and its own Manager Desk. If you want several shops earning while you work elsewhere, check the pair at each shop. This is the handoff that lets you build the next welcoming bookshop instead of personally covering every counter.
Check the desk before chasing missing income
The customer service desk handles book recommendations: it gives shoppers a place to ask for help choosing a book. It does not replace the Manager Desk or meet the manager setup requirement.
If a location seems to be earning nothing, return there and check the desk’s name, then check Zap Recruiter to confirm you actually hired its manager. Correct either missing piece, then travel elsewhere again. Keep the check focused on the shop you left behind: manager income applies to remote locations while you play at another shop.
