Opening Story: 

In Hidden Expedition: Smithsonian Hope Diamond, legend tells of a curse that follows the Hope Diamond ever since it was discovered, and now you find yourself hunting this very cursed item down before a band of dangerous and misguided theives get their hands on it. Journey through dangerous jungles and gorgeous castles as you attempt to track down these missing shards before it's too late!

General Tips for Playing Hidden Expedition: Smithsonian Hope Diamond

Difficulty Settings - There are four difficulty settings in this game: Explorer, Expedition Guide, Journey Master, and Custom. In Explorer Mode, the hint and skip buttons recharge quickly, there are no click penalties in the hidden object scenes, there are sparkles and helpful messages, and the map will show objectives and areas of interest. In Expedition Guide Mode, the hint and skip buttons recharge at a slower rate, the are click penalties, sparkles will appear less often, the map will only show objectives, and the are still helpful messages. In Journey Master Mode, the hint and skip buttons recharge at a very slow rate, there are click penalties, there are no sparkles, the map doesn't show any areas of interest or objectives, and there are no helpful messages. In Custom Mode, you are able to customize your playing style as you wish.

Menu - The menu button is found in the lower left hand corner of your screen.

Speech Bubble - Your cursor will turn into a speech bubble when you can talk to a character.

Magnifying Glass Icon - When your cursor turns into a magnifying glass, it means you can zoom in on an area to get a closer look.

Hand Cursor - When your cursor turns into a hand, it means you can pick up an item and add it to your inventory or interact with it in some way.

Inventory - Your inventory can be found at the bottom of the screen. Hover over it with your mouse to bring it up. Click the padlock to lock it in place.

Hints - Hints can be found in the lower right hand corner. Click here if you're stuck. Just remember, these take time to charge before you can use it again.  

Gears -  When your cursor turns into gears, it means you can use an item from your inventory at this location.

Arrow Pointers - These will appear when you are able to move to another screen. Click on it to move.

Smithsonian Institution Symbol - There are 49 symbols for you to collect throughout the game.

Plus Item - Plus items in your inventory can be examined further and even combined with other objects in your inventory.

H.E.L.P. Box - The Help Box is located in the bottom left hand corner and will store all the important clues you discover during your game as well as keep up with the story as it unfolds before you. It will also store the fact cards you will find as you play. There are 20 cards in all for you to find.

Map - Your map is found in the bottom right part of your screen, next to your inventory. Click to see where you are and what areas have actions available. You can also click to quick travel to areas you've already opened up.

Hidden Object Scenes - Hidden Object Areas will sparkle. Objects in red are hidden and require an extra step for you to find it.

Mini-Games - During mini-games, if you are having trouble or maybe you just don't feel like solving it, you can click on the skip button in the bottom right hand corner once it charges. If you want more information on how to solve the puzzle, click the question mark.
