Haunted Halls: Revenge of Doctor Blackmore: Chapter Five: Alaska

Car

  • Zero in on the car, pop the hood, and collect the SCREWDRIVER on the bottom right of the picture.
  • Then unscrew the lid on the gas canister.
  • Exit, open the side door, zoom in, and pick up the INSULATING TAPE and the KNIFE.
  • Exit, return to the car’s engine, and use the INSULATING TAPE to reconnect the battery wires.
  • Return to the car’s interior and remove the LIGHTER.
  • Time to move on – head off to the right of the buildings.

 

Garden

  • Talk to the poor slob hooked up in the chair, then take a look around.
  • Zoom in on the lawn mower, remove the gas cap(who mows grass in Alaska?) and pick up the STRAW sitting underneath the chute.
  • Zoom back out, pluck the FUNNEL from the scarecrow, then use the TOMAHAWK to cut away the brush on the left, which you can add to inventory as CHOPPED BRANCHES.
  • Zoom in on the railing underneath the scarecrow and use the SCREWDRIVER to loosen the screws – take the fence which you can now use as a LADDER.
  • Return to the car.

 

Car

  • Zero back in on the metal drum with the wood inside, place the CHOPPED BRANCHES inside, then the STRAW, then set it all ablaze with the LIGHTER.
  • The heat will loosen the snow on the roof above, bringing down a SNOW SHOVEL. 
  • Add it to inventory and head back to the right.

 

Garden

  • Use the SNOW SHOVEL on the pile of snow to the right at the base of the tree.
  • Zoom in and use the KNIFE to cut a section of the HOSE  – place it in inventory.
  • Note something glistening through the ice – use the TOMAHAWK to crack through the ice and pick up the CAR KEY.
  • Return to the car.

 

Car

  • Zoom in on the door, and slot the CAR KEY in place in the ignition.
  • Next, place the LADDER against the nearby lamppost and climb up to acquire the LIGHT COVER.
  • Head back to the right again to the lawnmower.

 

Garden

  • Zoom in on the lawn mower, place the HOSE in the gas tank, then place the LIGHT COVER at the other end of the hose.
  • Watch as the container fills up with gas from the mower, then add it to your inventory.
  • Return to the car.

 

Car

  • Go back to the front of the car, put the FUNNEL in place over the gas tank, and pour the GASOLINE in.
  • Return to the inside of the car and turn the CAR KEY.
  • Watch as the car reverses into the building nearby (that’s what all this effort was for?) then zero in on the HOA puzzle that comes into view to initiate it.

 

Crash Hidden Object Area

  • Find all the items circled in red, noting that there might be some slight variation in the objects to find due to random selection by the game.
  • When complete, take the CHAINSAW.

 

Hedge

  • Put the CHAINSAW to use by slashing through the hedge to the left of the car.
  • Exit out through the new opening.

 

Yard

  • Say hello to the bear cub, who’s apparently hungry, then zero in on the viewing machine on the lookout.
  • Use the SCREWDRIVER to loosen all the screws and take one of the lens SEGMENTS.
  • Next zoom in on the small shed to the left of the walkway and take the JACK and the REPAIR KIT.
  • Now head over to the shipwreck in the background.

 

Hold

  • Take the BONE sitting on the nearby floor.
  • Then click on the medicine cabinet and retrieve the TWINE from inside.
  • Next zoom in on the door to the left and use the JACK to open it up, revealing the next HOA puzzle.

 

Crash Hidden Object Area

  • Find all the items circled in red, noting that there might be some slight variation in the objects to find due to random selection by the game.
  • Note that the clock is hidden inside the box to the left and the lid will have to be opened to retrieve it.
  • When complete, take the LENS and go up the nearby stairs.

 

Deck

  • Click on the hook hanging nearby to send it down below, then follow suit by clicking on the hose to send it snaking down.
  • Zoom in on the hose and note the hole in it which needs repair – time to use the REPAIR KIT!
  • You still need a belt to get everything running, so exit and go back down the stairs.

 

Door Puzzle

  • Zoom in on the door to the right to initiate the next puzzle.
  • There are two points to solving this puzzle. Firstly, the inner circle rotates, and the connections for the blue wires have to match the connections on the outer ring – note how each pair is place differently.
  • The connections are also broken between the 6 segments – that’s where the sliders come into the equation. You have to position each slot vertically so that it’s underneath the magnet.
  • You then either use the left handle to make the magnet bring the slider up to make the connection, or use the right handle to make the magnet force it down.
  • You concentrate on this first, then rotate the complete circuit until the outer connections match up the patter of the connections on the outer ring.

  • When done, the door will swing open invitingly.

 

Bridge

  • Zoom in on the table to the left and place the SEGMENT and the LENS on it.
  • Click on the items to amalgamate them into a SPYGLASS.
  • Exit back down to the hold.

 

Hold Hidden Object Area

  • Zoom in on the HOA puzzle to the left.
  • Find all the items circled in red, noting that there might be some slight variation in the objects to find due to random selection by the game.
  • When complete, take the AMMUNITION and head back out to the yard.

 

Yard

  • Zoom in on the bear cub and hand him the BONE.
  • While he’s happily chewing on it, take the LEASH and head back up to the deck.

 


Deck

  • Zoom in on the stand just behind the winch cables, and attach the SPYGLASS, noting the comment that it can be used for aiming (remember the earlier comment about bringing down the wall?)
  • Next zoom in on the pump motor and use the LEASH as a new pulley
  • Head back to the hold.

 

Hold

  • Note that all the water is now gone, revealing a cannon.
  • Lower the hook down, then click on the nearby net to wrap in round the cannon.
  • Now click on the hook again to raise the cannon off the deck.
  • Nearby is a STATUE HEAD.
  • Add it to inventory and go back up the stairs.

 

Deck

  • Go up the deck, click on the cables to raise the cannon up again, then click on the net to place the cannon over on its mount to the right.
  • Head to the bridge.

 

Bridge

  • Zoom in on the table and place the AMMUNITION on it (for some reason this table is very picky – note the screenshot to see exactly where to place it). 
  • Next, use the small guillotine in the background to open up each of the shells, emptying the contents on to the paper.
  • When finished use the TWINE to tie it all up neatly into an EXPLOSIVE PACKET and head back up to the deck.

 

Deck

  • Zoom in on the cannon, open the breech at the back, and load in the STATUE HEAD and the EXPLOSIVE PACKET.
  • Close the breech, then aim the cannon using the SPYGLASS settings as aiming points – 3 across on the left wheel, 5 on the right wheel for the correct height.
  • Then fire away, watch the wall collapse, and return to the car (ah, you’ve made the little bear SO happy!)

 

Car

  • Note the HOA puzzle beckoning in the nearby building.
  • Zoom in to initiate it.
  • Find all the items circled in red, noting that there might be some slight variation in the objects to find due to random selection by the game.
  • When complete, take the MAP and return to the bridge.

 

Bridge

  • Zoom in on the blue screen to the left and place the MAP on it.
  • Note the code that it prints out to the right – 871 across the top, 243 on the next row.
  • Now zoom in on the safe (below the fish on the panel) and slot in the codes across the two rows of dials.
  • When done, use the handle to open the door and take the syringe gun, which will find its way into your portable lab.
  • Open the portable lab, and follow the instructions on the sheet as follows -
  • Place the seeds and some water (H2O) in the mortar and use the pestle to grind the materials down. Place the resulting powder, together with some poison, into the grinder and hit the button.
  • Take the powder, together with the contents of vial ‘?’, and some lemon, and run them through the liquefier.
  • Take the liquid that comes out, together with some salt, and grind them up in the mortar with the pestle. When done place the results into the solidifier to obtain some crystals.
  • Take the crystals, with some poison, and put them through the grinder.
  • Take the contents of the grinder and add them to the liquefier, together with some water (H2O), and when it’s finished pour the final result into the syringe gun, giving you an ANTI-FREEZE TONIC (yeah I know, it doesn’t make any sense to me either!)
  • Return to the lawn mower.

 

Rift

  • Note that the rift has been filled in by the collapse of the wall.
  • Proceed across.

 

Tonic

  • Watch the cut scene play out, then use the ANTI-FREEZE TONIC on the hallucination to make it disappear.
  • Next, zero in on the rear window of the dozer to open it, then zoom in to glance at the next puzzle.

 

Dozer Puzzle

  • This is similar to the other dial/gauge puzzles encountered earlier, with scraps of paper giving the correct position for the dials, and each button having a different effect.
  • The simplest solution is to press the orange button five times, the red button once, the green button once, and the blue button once.
  • When finished return back to the lawn mower.

 

Garden

  • You’ve saved yet another soul! Talk to the guy – he sure looks like he could use a warm coat – then collect the PINK ENERGY ORB he leaves behind on departure through the mist.
  • Head back to the computer room and on back the ward where your fiancé still waits strapped to a chair full of explosives.

 

Ward

  • Zoom in on the suitcase in the background, by the window, and place the four ENERGY ORBS inside it.
  • On doing so, the figure strapped upside to the right will light up. 
  • Zoom in to initiate your final puzzle.

 

Puppet Puzzle

  • Yet another gauge puzzle.
  • To solve it, press the orange button once, the green button five times, the blue button three times, and finally the red button five times.

Your fiancé is now free, though that dastardly Blackmore gets the orbs in return for his life! You now have the option of playing the bonus segment to see how well you go pitting your wits against Blackmore in the final showdown. Good luck!
