Hippity, hoppity, Easter’s on its way! After my experience with the original Easter Eggztravaganza, I wasn’t holding out much hope for the sequel beyond my love for the punny title.

Title

I was pleasantly surprised that many of the things I didn’t care for in the original game were updated – gone were the airbrushed characters narrating the game and the hidden object scenes were less cluttered.

The same grocery store soundtrack music remained, which I turned off after a little while. The storyline follows Mike and Emma through their Easter celebrations such as decorating eggs and participating in the Easter parade.

Eggs

The graphics in the hidden object scenes in Easter Eggztravaganza 2 are crisp and clear and not too cluttered to be able to find the objects. The more streamlined appearance makes the scenes easier to complete, but hints are still readily available in casual mode.

In addition to locating all the objects on the list, there are further challenges to find a hatching chick in each scene and open a hidden skill game to earn more points. I’m not sure I get the point of the skill game – it opens a small window with a few bunnies and wolves and point values that light up one by one. When you press stop, it slowly comes to a stop, and you either gain points with a bunny or lose points with a wolf.

I’m not sure how much skill is involved in clicking stop, so I didn’t look too hard for those bonuses in each scene. I had to laugh at one of the objects in an early scene – banana skin. I have never heard of a peel referred to as a banana skin before! Considering I was amused by that, you have an idea of the level of the game.

Hidden Objects

The mini games in Easter Eggztravaganza 2 were varied and some of them were actually interesting. Although still geared toward a younger audience, I kind of enjoyed the color by number scene! There are also more traditional puzzles and Easter themed games such as egg decorating.

This time hints are available in mini games such as the spot the difference scenes, so, when you get stuck, you aren’t forced to quit the game but can look for a clue to help complete the puzzle. If you do choose to quit, you are still rewarded with a positive message from the game – everyone’s a winner! Good job giving up on finding that last hidden chocolate bunny…

Paint

Easter Eggztravaganza 2 is a family-friendly game with various levels of puzzles and play available allowing the whole family to enjoy.  While younger children would have the most fun, it’s not too juvenile for a parent or older sibling to help out with the more challenging aspects.

Happy Easter!
