Obtain a Mermaid's Mirror

Spook says a mirror is required, and Yvette says that a mermaid is the vainest creature...so... off to Acropolis you go, through the Granite Mountains and Ashera's Tomb. Guess what key opens the door to the tomb...you got it, the Mermaid Key you just found. How very convenient! Enter the tomb.

Ashera's Tomb

Monsters in the tomb are crabs

and attack fish

. They look pretty cute, but they're aggressive, mean, and strong!

As you enter the tomb, Nox appears again, with yet another interruption to your plans...She urges Mel to go to Underfall, saying that the Darklings there await the return of the heir of Darkthrop. You can follow her directions OR you can ignore her, and go toward Acropolis first. Acropolis has better weapons and armor for sale, BUT you have to pass a ginormous crab to get there. It's like a boss fight; the darn crab keeps spitting out little crabs and is very difficult to beat! So my recommendation is to go to Underfall first, as Nox requests. Head toward the right, and make your way to the doorway (marked 3—it transfers you to the other area 3 on the map, and you will go through the door on the right to go to Underfall. Make sure to pick up the empty bottle on the other side of the entrance.

Underfall

Underfall is full of ghosts

and ghouls

aveyond-the-lost-orb:image046.jpg

. Be careful, the ghouls cast berserk spells and the ghosts can curse you or kill a member of your party with one spell! If you try to fight them, make sure to have some cassia leaves and witcheye root readily available!

Once in Underfall, activate the MME and the Reaper Express (RE) both on the southeast side of town.
Don't waste your money on the poetry book or the rotten level egg—especially not the rotten level egg—it will make your whole party LOSE a level!

When you arrive, pick bloodthistle flowers when you see them, and look for Gorbin (a familiar) in town who will teach Yvette a new bird form, the Wobbler, for _only_ 20,000g.

Go into Darkling Hall on the northwest side of town. A girl inside, Dollrag, says Mel looks familiar. Hrmmmm... Nox appears and again annoys Mel about taking her rightful place as Darkthrop's heir.
Check out all the shops and upgrade as much as you can. Here's another good place to stay, battle, level, and equip your party members; make sure to save your game often though as those ghosts and ghouls can be deadly!

Ashera's Tomb

Go back to Ashera's Tomb and go north; collect the fishing net as you go. Make sure that ALL of your party has maximum HP and MP; if necessary, use the conveniently placed life crystal! With the equipment that you purchase in Underfall, the Giant Crab

aveyond-the-lost-orb:image048.jpg

shouldn't be too difficult, but it does continue to spit out little crabs. Focus on attacking the Giant Crab instead of the little crabs; you know you can manage those easily once the big fight is over. After you kill the Giant Crab, make sure to loot the corpse as it may contain either Ashera's Helmet, Sandals, or Bow; all which could be very helpful to your party!

Continue heading north as far as you can go. Make sure to open the brown chest—you'll obtain the Treasure Key, so now you can open all those blue chests you've been seeing. Keep heading north, and you'll reach Acropolis!

Acropolis

You can buy better weapons and armor from the guy on the beach. Yet another illegal arms trader on Eldrion!

In the northwest area of the city is another familiar who can teach Yvette another bird form, the Bluetail.

Go toward the northeast side of town and then walk all the way down the top level to get to the mermaid. Talk to her. Edward asks for her mirror, but she wants a fruit salad in exchange. A fruit salad? Whatever, you know a great chef....

Tyobi

Go to Tyobi and talk to Willoby in the palace kitchen. He'll give you the necessary fruit salad. Take it back to the mermaid in Acropolis.

Acropolis

Talk to the mermaid and give her the fruit salad. She's so grateful that she gives you her mirror.
