Governor of Poker Review
By jasper 08/03/2008 |
New out this week is Governor of Poker, a fun Texas Hold'em game. Xavier always beats me at Poker, particularly Texas Hold'em. I know a couple friends who've gotten pretty deep in debt from playing online poker, so I stay away from those. I have to admit I really like this version of it - you can choose your difficulty level and there's lots of tips to make you a better player. The AI of the computer players seemed pretty sophisticated. The idea is to make enough money to buy all the houses in each town, and then you move on to the next. In some of the games, people within the town wager up their houses which you can win as well. It seemed like a new twist on an old favorite. |

I beat this game, bad thing is it just starts you all over from the beginning again. It doesn't even show a record that you beat it. |

If you have beaten the game do you have a complete list of the awards? what is the 6th award? If you have it there are a bunch of people looking for it. |

THIS GAME IS DEFINITELY RIGGED AND HAS GOT NOTHING TO DO WITH REAL POKER, it has been fun though and quite addicting and I found it challenging playing a fixed game. For exampleI in San Saba I got several flushes, full houses and even several four of a kind I have finished 1'st over 10 times, now I have played myself thrue the whole game owning the whole of Texas and played a lot of tournaments in the last 3 cities and it is remarkably obvious that they fixed the dealing, during 5 tournaments in a row in El Paso I never had a pair over 10 or better and never finished better than 3'rd, no matter city or how high the buy-ins are it is supposed to be left to chance which cards that comes up on the table or being delt. During several tournaments I folded until the Blinds took it all and looking at the cards coming up at the table none of my hands would have made it. Many times I have gone All-In before the Flop with Ace-Ace and AI has followed with crap like 5, 8 and got lucky on the turn and river far too many times. And one unreal characteristics is AI going in big or All-In with bottom pairs even with Kings and Aces on the Flop, its like the gamemaker programmed a pair being the best hand ever however low?!? I can understand that a game is by tradition supposed to get harder but doing that with poker which is supposed to be a game of chance just kills the the sense of reality, it doesn't matter how good a player you are if you keep getting crap cards that never hit, no one gets better at poker by playing this but its kind of fun with the graphics and all. SO DON'T BUY GOVERNOR OF POKER IF YOU WANT TO LEARN THE GAME, PLAY FREE-ROLLS INSTEAD. I am spreding this mess allover because I feel that it's not worth the money buying a unrealistic pokergame. |

partly true.. i reckon that the game is indeed 'manipulated' a bit, because there are way too many pocket hands. i once played a game wherein 5 of the 8 participators had pocket hands. the round after that there again were some pocket hands. somehow your opponent always seems to have an ace too, at the moment you have a similar hand. oh and i can't even count the limitless quads and full houses anymore.. i had a few straight flushes aswell and one royal flush, but that's normal when you play poker everyday over a few months. nevertheless, i've beaten the game on hard and it was a lot of fun. i'm trying to beat it again on hard, but now in less days and i hope to win all the awards. however there are four i can't seem to get; the one between '5th in place' and 'all-in before flop' (wonder what that might be?), the one after 'bust 2 players' (i busted 3 players several times, but i never received an award for it.. bug?) and of course the 'beat a straight flush award'. but what's the last award? as said above, i'm really curious in a full list of possible awards.. |
