In some ways, Fabled Legends: The Dark Piper has it a little too easy. I mean, is there any better fodder for sick and twisted premises than the fairy tales of our childhood? Cloaked within seemingly innocent stories of princes and princesses are accounts of child abuse and cannibalism (Hansel and Gretel) and kidnapping and torture (Rapunzel), among others.
So, you have to concede that these game developers had a giant leg up when it came to setting the stage for a horrific clash of good vs. evil. And, the good news is that they don’t disappoint. Fabled Legends: The Dark Piper notches up the creep factor with gloomy imagery and marauding red-eyed rats that block your way from time to time, requiring you to go in search of just the perfect tool for dispersing them.
You’ll encounter Hidden Object Areas to help build that inventory of useful items and mini-games to uncover pieces and parts of the mystery. You’ll particularly appreciate the handy inspector’s notebook to keep track of your objectives and the town map to help orient your movements.
The game can be a bit confusing from time to time, so your Fabled Legends: The Dark Piper Walkthrough is probably more of a “need to keep” than a “nice to have.” Keep those detailed instructions and full-color, real gameplay screenshots at hand for the times when the Piper has the upper hand.
